We strive to recommend humble clergy with their ego in check who promote our viewpoint of equality and the golden rule.
5. We do not require any preconditions for our rabbis to marry you. If you want to get married on a Saturday by a rabbi, we have a few that perform ceremonies on the Jewish Sabbath.
What is the best way to bridge the gap in religious customs for a wedding?
Focus on the similarities within the different customs and tradtions. Then take a look at the different ways in which the customs are performed.
An Example: In the Filipino ceremony there is an old Spanish tradition called the “coin exchange”. The actual origin of this custom is from the Sephardic Jewish custom in Medieval Spain when couples exchanged coins. Arras [coin exchange] was one of the ways to consecrate a marriage by showing financial feasibility. When we perform Jewish Filipino or Spanish ceremonies we do a short explanation of the ritual’s origin to tie the two cultures together.
How do we help you plan your interfaith and multicultural ceremony?
1. We have extensive experience and resources on wedding custom etiquette from many different traditions. We act as an adviser for culturally unfamiliar situations assisting our couples with appropriate choices for their music, color choices, dress etc. making sure that they do not offend anyone accidentally.
2. It is advised to craft a personalized ceremony when there are mixed traditions involved. We have developed a successful system whereby we collaborate online with our couples to craft their ceremony. We design a written detailed script that is approved by the couple and our officiants agree to follow the script the couple has developed so there are no surprises on the day of their wedding.
